East Hayling Light Railway Society
(Picture shows Alex Luckham and Kevin Matthews in our workshop)
The railway is given much valuable help by members of the Society. Volunteers of both sexes over a wide age range make up the membership. It was formed in 1988 and is an essential part of the future growth of the railway. From a mere 10 members when it was founded we now boast over 100 and we're growing daily.
Engine driving, guarding, ticket selling, building, maintenance and every other task on the East Hayling Light Railway is undertaken by trained volunteers.
If you fancy a spot of volunteering they are not a bad bunch to join. Have a chat with one of the operating staff, you might even end up with a cup of tea in your hand!
If you join the Society we will help you to train for whichever position you aspire to.
The membership fee to join the Society from 1st April to 31st March is £10 annually, with a three month training period on all applications. After the three months is over you will be sent a Membership Package, which includes rules and regulations in Health and Safety, membership card and finally our excellent six monthly magazine "Billy" which gives an indepth feel to the Railway plus 2 Newsletters.
For an application form, please 'click' on "Membership Form" Panel.
